Meet the BroomstickChick
Image: Jackie Campbell
Hi! I'm Dani Musicka, the #BroomstickChick - photographer, creative and lifelong finder of magic in the everyday. When I’m out with my camera, immersing myself in nature, I find solace and inspiration. Capturing those moments is not just about preserving scenes; it’s about sharing that sense of wonder with others. Each photograph tells a story, a testament to the beauty and serenity of our natural world.
For over four decades, I've been a dedicated creative, using photography as my primary medium. Nature, like photography, offers me refuge. Among the various types of photography, macro holds a special place in my heart; it's like discovering a whole other world within our own. Flowers, insects, leaves, moss – they all hold fascinating patterns and textures that often go unnoticed. I like to shine a spotlight on the beauty of the small and often overlooked.
Dawn? What a magical time of day, filled with the promise of new beginnings. Those early morning colours paint the sky with a sense of tranquillity and hope. Through my photography, I aim to capture that fleeting moment of serenity and share it with others.
As for my style, I'm always experimenting. Whether it's playing with light and shadow or exploring unconventional angles or in-camera techniques such as long exposures, multiple exposures, intentional camera movement or creative use of settings like aperture and shutter speed. I'm constantly pushing myself to grow as an artist.
For me, photography is about embracing the joy of discovery and sharing that joy with others.
